Classic Sound is a recording company specialising in capturing solo, chamber, orchestral and choral performances. Based in Auckland, New Zealand and owned and run by recording engineer and classical musician Paul McGlashan, Classic Sound strives for natural sounding recordings that have a sense of spaciousness and excitement by harnessing the acoustic qualities of the performance space and by using a high quality, minimalist digital recording process.
Paul has masters degrees in Computer Science and Creative and Performing Arts (sound recording and design) – both from Auckland University. He was a member of the Viva Voce chamber choir, singing 2nd tenor, for 20 years. Paul has studied organ with Anita Banbury, piano with Christine Cummings, and voice with both Beatrice Webster and Kathryn McGredy.
